Polish Radio reported that the government had begun to develop a concept that would permit the denial of visas to citizens of the Russian Federation at the legal level. Polish deputy foreign minister Piotr Wawrzyk said that the country is ready to continue to support the imposition of sanctions against the aggressor country and to pay special attention to the suspension of the agreement on visa facilitation for Russians.
Poland began to develop a project to ban entry into the country at the state level because Germany, France, and the Netherlands are not yet ready to suspend the visa agreement with Russia.
"Poland is working on a new solution because it is impossible to overcome the resistance of these countries (France, Germany, Netherlands — ed.) to suspend the agreement on visa facilitation for citizens of the Russian Federation," said Wawrzyk.
At the same time, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia support the idea of prohibiting the issuance of visas to Russian citizens. Earlier, Estonia decided to stop the entry of Russians into the country. This ban applies even to Russians who have Schengen visas. However, the Ministry of foreign affairs of Estonia notes that the new law still contains exceptions.
"The decision to close Estonia for Russians with Schengen visas will affect 50.000 people," said foreign minister Urmas Reinsalu.
Europe is being closed to the citizens of the country that Putin rules. However, this does not take away their desire to escape from Russia. In the first quarter, 3.9 million people left Russia.
