The European Central Bank (ECB) is launching a pilot project for the "digital euro": a fully electronic version of the European currency, which will differ from both the "paper" prototype and from cryptocurrencies.
According to EuroNews, the digital euro will circulate in test mode for two years.
During this time, a number of tasks have to be solved: the main one in the bank is ensuring security and confidentiality.
According to the publication, the digital euro will be exactly the same obligation of the ECB as the paper one, but it will not be possible to cash out the digital wallet.
