Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the European Commission, provided a summary of her discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, focusing on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine

The meeting underscored the mutual interests of China and the European Union in achieving peace and security.

Von der Leyen emphasized the expectation for China to leverage its influence over Russia to halt its aggressive actions against Ukraine. She highlighted President Xi's significant role in mitigating Russia's nuclear threats and expressed confidence in his continued efforts amidst persistent Russian provocations.

The European Commission leader also addressed China's assurances against supplying lethal weapons to Russia and called for increased efforts to prevent the flow of Russian dual-use goods to conflict zones.
