Farm in Kyiv Region Develops Plant Cloning Laboratory

The Allazarov farm uses microclonal propagation to accelerate seedling production of blueberries, walnuts, paulownia, and fruit trees

Innovative agricultural project

The Allazarov farm in Kyiv region has launched a plant cloning laboratory that significantly speeds up the process of cultivating high-quality seedlings. The main focus of the laboratory is on blueberry seedlings, but work is also being done on walnut, paulownia, and fruit trees.

According to farm owner Yuri Allazarov, the laboratory’s capacity is up to 400,000 plants per year.

Technology of microclonal propagation

The key innovation is microclonal propagation, which allows:

  • reducing the time to obtain a seedling from three years to three months,

  • ensuring genetic uniformity and resistance of plants,

  • creating large volumes of planting material in a short time.

Thanks to this method, the farm provides high-quality planting stock both for its own use and on a contract basis for other farms.

Blueberries as the main direction

  • The majority of the laboratory’s production so far has been blueberry seedlings.

  • According to Allazarov, almost all blueberry plantations in Ukraine originate from their laboratory.

  • The lab also works with walnut and paulownia, which are in demand for both agricultural and industrial purposes.

Other innovations in the Kyiv region

The Kyiv region has become a center of agricultural innovation:

  • The Eldorado farm was the first to introduce drip irrigation technology for potatoes.

  • As a result, potato yields exceeded 50 tons per hectare — a record for the region.
