The announcement came after a telephone conversation on Friday between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
During the call, President Zelensky briefed his Finnish counterpart on Ukraine’s urgent need for additional air defense systems and related equipment. Stubb expressed readiness to help bolster Ukraine’s air defenses, reaffirming Finland’s commitment to support Kyiv’s efforts to strengthen its security against persistent Russian aggression.
Both leaders discussed the steps required to bring about a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, ensuring no recurrence of Russian hostilities in the future. They underscored the importance of establishing tangible security guarantees for Ukraine to safeguard against potential renewed aggression.
The conversation also focused on Ukraine’s path toward membership in the European Union and NATO, key objectives that Ukraine aims to achieve amid the ongoing conflict.
Earlier, President Zelensky informed President Stubb about the consequences of a massive Russian attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which took place the same morning. The severity of this strike further highlights the critical importance of international support, both militarily and diplomatically, to ensure Ukraine’s resilience and long-term stability.
