Fish Production in Ukraine Increases

Production of finished products and canned fish in Ukraine increased by 45%

The Ministry of agrarian policy reports an increase in the investing-in-ukraine/business-opportunities/manufacturing/">manufacturing of finished products and canned fish. In 2021, the figures are 45% higher than last year. According to the state statistics service of Ukraine, in January-June 2021, our country produced 7,580 tons of finished fish products and canned food.

We offer you a list of fish products whose production growth has been active during 2021:

  • unsalted fish;
  • salted fish, but not dried;
  • fish in brine (except smoked fish, fish fillets, fish heads, tails, and bellies) — 5,152 tons (+ 4%);
  • dried fish — 2,310 tons (+ 8%);
  • caviar of other fish — 1,904 tons (+ 41%);
  • smoked fish (including fillets, except for Pacific, Atlantic, and Danube salmon, herring, and trout, as well as fish heads, tails, and bellies) —1 991 t (+ 12%);
  • salted fish (except herring) — 1,039 tons (+ 5%).

In addition, since the beginning of the year in Ukraine produced:

  • prepared products and canned food from other fish, whole or in pieces, in vinegar, oil, marinade, tomato (except minced meat and ready-made fish dishes) — 799 tons;
  • ready-made products and canned mackerel, whole or sliced, in vinegar, oil, marinade, tomato (except minced meat and fish dishes) — 270 tons;
  • ready-made products and canned sardines, sardines, sprats, and sprats, whole or sliced, in vinegar, oil, marinade, tomato (except minced meat and ready-made fish dishes) — 5,871 tons;
  • salted herring — 1,804 tons.

Let's recall that in 2021, Germany became the largest buyer of Ukrainian fish. In general, the fishing industry of Ukraine is actively developing every day. The popularity of Ukrainian products can be explained by the excellent quality and attractive price, and among the countries that buy fish in Ukraine for many years are Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, and Romania.
