France Allocates €5.7 Million to Ukraine’s Energy Support Fund for Nuclear Industry Projects

This was announced by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine following a signing ceremony at the Rebuild Ukraine Construction and Energy 2024 conference in Warsaw

The agreement was signed by Artur Lorkovsky, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, and Pierre Elbron, France’s Special Envoy for Assistance and Reconstruction of Ukraine, in the presence of Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko.

“We thank our French partners for this contribution and for understanding the crucial role nuclear power plays in ensuring energy system resilience. France’s support brings us closer to strengthening Ukraine’s energy infrastructure,”
Herman Galushchenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine.

Energy Support Fund Reaches Over €1 Billion

With this new French contribution, total donor commitments to Ukraine’s Energy Support Fund have now surpassed €1 billion. Established in April 2022, the Fund has proven an effective mechanism for international support in the energy sector, enabling Ukrainian energy companies to:

  • Recover from Russian attacks
  • Carry out essential repairs
  • Build and commission new energy capacities

The assistance is particularly vital for enhancing the reliability and safety of nuclear generation, which plays a key role in Ukraine’s overall energy security.
