Germany to Provide €20 Mln for Eco-Recovery

On December 9, a base was created in London for the transfer of funds to eliminate damage to the ecological infrastructure of Ukraine

Russian attacks against critical infrastructure, including drainage, Ukrainians entail environmental problems in Ukraine. Polluted water from sewers enters natural reservoirs and soil, and this undoubtedly negatively affects human health.

To prevent an environmental catastrophe, the German Ministry of the environment and the EBRD have created a financial base to provide Ukraine with funds to repair critical infrastructure. €20 million in emergency assistance will be used to purify drinking water, repair the water supply and drainage system, reduce emissions and increase the level of processing of potentially hazardous emissions.

The mechanism is being launched with the support of the Eastern European Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership, which invites other donors to join the initiative.
