From the first days of the war, Volodymyr Zelenskyy made it clear that in this war he would not be a coward and a traitor. In the first days, western partners and guards insisted that the president leave Ukraine. But Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused. The head of state refused to leave even when Russian paratroopers landed in the Pechersk district of Kyiv — near the president's office.
"I’ll take my gun and fight. What’s the problem?" asked the president.
On 26 of February the White House also offered asylum to the president of Ukraine. But Zelenskyy said that he needed military support, not shelter. Even American president Joseph Biden himself offered to help escape from Ukraine, but Zelenskyy also responded negatively.
"I need a gun, not a taxi," that was the head of state’s response.
Zelenskyy will be with the Ukrainians until the end of the war. Therefore, any news that the president has fled from Ukraine is fake.
