Strategic Cabinet decisions
At a thematic environmental meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a series of decisions aimed at advancing the country’s European integration. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized that these steps strengthen transparency in resource management and bring Ukraine closer to EU environmental standards.
Key decisions include:
-
Updating mineral accounting: Ukraine’s national classification is now fully consistent with the UN Framework Classification (UNFC).
-
Introducing eco-labeling for cars: Buyers of new passenger vehicles will receive clear data on fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions.
Why mineral accounting reform matters
According to Svyrydenko, the updated classification system will:
-
Make the mining industry more transparent and understandable for investors.
-
Increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian raw materials on global markets.
-
Create new business and economic opportunities.
This reform is also directly linked to the Ukraine–U.S. agreement on minerals cooperation, under which a Ukrainian-American Reconstruction Investment Fund with $150 million of starting capital has been launched to develop critical raw materials projects.
Car buyers to receive full eco-information
The second decision concerns the automotive market. From now on, every new passenger car sold in Ukraine must:
-
Display a sticker with information on CO₂ emissions and fuel consumption.
-
Provide buyers with comparative information about the most environmentally friendly car models available.
This initiative is designed to increase transparency for consumers, stimulate demand for more sustainable vehicles, and align Ukraine’s regulations with EU car labeling standards.
Resolution No. 1182 of September 25, 2025 updates the procedure for selling new passenger cars and introduces standardized labeling across dealerships.
Bottom line
By synchronizing its mineral accounting with UN standards and enforcing eco-labeling in the automotive sector, Ukraine is fulfilling commitments on the path to EU membership. These reforms both attract international investment into critical industries and bring tangible environmental awareness to everyday consumers.
