Chronology of the outbreak of war 24 February 2022

12:52 a.m. – Ukraine was already preparing for an attack. The President of Ukraine said that Ukraine is surrounded by at least 200.000 Russian soldiers and military equipment. On the border with Ukraine stood thousands of tanks of the occupiers. However, Zelenskyy attempted to keep the peace and urged the Russian soldiers not to start a war.

2:45 a.m. – airports are closed in Ukraine. Two hours before the first missile strikes from Russia, it was already dangerous to be in the airspace. Therefore, all flights in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, and Dnipropetrovsk regions were canceled.

3:40 a.m. – Luhansk region was the first to be attacked by the Russian Federation. Putin’s tanks moved from the previously occupied part of the region. Some time later, the Sumy region experienced a breakthrough in terms of borders.

On 24 February 2022, at 4:50 a.m., the Russian fuhrer publicly declared the beginning of the war. True, the aggressor called the crime against the Ukrainian people a "special military operation".

5 a.m. – Russian armed forces start heavy shelling of Ukrainian borders and military infrastructure.

At 5:24 a.m., the Russian occupiers decide to launch missile strikes on almost all major cities of Ukraine. Explosions are heard in Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Berdyansk, etc.

Russian soldiers did not listen to Volodymyr Zelenskyy's appeal and went to the neighboring country with the war. The Ukrainian government had nothing to do – martial law was imposed in the country before 7 a.m.

7:06 a.m. Luhansk region in the greatest danger. Ukrainian army shot down 5 Russian combat aircraft and 1 helicopter. Ukrainian authorities are discussing an emergency evacuation across the region.

7:22 – the capital of Ukraine first hears an air alert. Russian troops also actively advancing towards the capital.

8:48 a.m. – Russian soldiers broke through 4 borders: Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Lugansk regions. After an hour from Ukraine, evacuation trains begin to go; in them people sit in the corridor, standing, lying, almost without things. 

When everyone woke up, war broke out in Ukraine.

This day will forever become a tragedy for Ukraine. February 24, 2022, someone lost his homes, someone favorite animal or a close person. But Ukraine has become on fense and surely stands after it has already paid such a price for freedom.
