Hungarians Agree on the Transit of Weapons to Ukraine

Representative of the Hungarian MFA Levente Magyar said that his state agrees to provide its territories for the transfer of military assistance to Ukraine from other states

On July 19, Hungarian deputy minister of foreign affairs Levente Magyar arrived to Lviv. The country, known for its categorical attitude towards Ukraine, has radically changed its position. Previously, Hungary closed its borders to transport military aid from other states to Ukraine, but now there are reasons for the opposite.

"Unlike many Western partners, we felt for ourselves what it is like to confront this huge eastern state. At the same time, Hungary itself will not supply its weapons — this is our strategic position. However, third countries can use our territory," Levente Magyar.

In addition, according to Magyar, Budapest is ready to accept Ukrainian children in holiday camps and sanatoriums, and 1.000 scholarships have been allocated to students and schoolchildren to study in Hungary. Also, the country is ready to accept the Ukrainians affected by the war.

We remind you that earlier the minister of foreign affairs Peter Szijjarto said that he refused to provide his lands for transit and help with weapons since this could make the state a side to the conflict with Russia."According to the minister, in response to the participation of Hungary, Russia would start shooting the Hungarians living in the territory of Ukrainian Transcarpathia.
