On August 31, the IAEA, consisting of 14 specialists from all over the world and the head of the delegation, Rafael Grossi, arrived in Zaporizhzhia.
"We are getting ready for the real work, which will start tomorrow. We will try to establish a permanent agency presence (at the station — ed.) from now on," Rafael Grossi.
"Our mission will last a few days. If we can establish a permanent presence, it will be longer, but this is our first stop, which will take a few days," Grossi continued.
It is known that the Russian invaders seized the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the satellite town of Energodar and the plant personnel. Olena Parenyuk, a senior researcher at the Institute for security problems, said that the occupiers rape female personnel, do not allow employees to sleep, beat them regularly and do not allow them to perform their duties to ensure the safety of the station.
"As you know, this is a part of Ukraine that is now occupied by Russian troops, but for us, it is clear that this is a Ukrainian object, so we are here, we have the authority and legal rights to be here, clearly established by the guarantee agreement that we have with Ukraine," Rafael Grossi.
We remind you that Russia regularly shells the station, which once already led to its emergency shutdown.
