Iceland Will Help Restore Ukraine’s Energy System

On January 26, Russia launched its 13th massive attack on Ukrainian energy infrastructure

The minister of energy of Ukraine, Herman Galushchenko, and the minister of the environment, energy and climate of Iceland, Gudlaugur Thor Thordarson, held a bilateral online meeting on Ukraine's energy security.
During the negotiations, minister Galushchenko said that on January 26, Russia again attacked Ukraine with drones and 559 missiles Kh-101, Kh-555, Kh-47, Kinzhal, Kalibr and Kh-5. As a result of the terrorist attack, objects responsible for the energy security of Ukraine and its citizens were repeatedly damaged and destroyed.

Gudlaugur Thor Thordarson said that Iceland will make every effort to help Ukraine in the face of regular and targeted attacks on specialized energy nodes. The ministers agreed on the bilateral development of cooperation in the energy field.

Today, Ukraine has focused on the decentralization of energy infrastructure and the search for safe alternative sources of energy supply.
