Belgian businessman Freddy Versluys bought 50 Leopard 1A5 tanks from his state many years ago, 33 of which were on the move. The tanks have been repaired and added to Mr Versluys' huge collection of military equipment. At the beginning of the year, it became known that the Belgian government planned to buy these tanks from the businessman and transfer them to Ukraine, but the deal did not take place for unknown reasons.
On August 8, it became known that incognito, the buyer bought these 50 tanks and gives them for free for the defence of Ukraine. Now the equipment has been sent to technical sites in Germany and Italy for technical inspection and necessary improvements.
"I am glad that this technique will serve in the name of freedom," Versluys commented on the deal.
The person, the state, or the company - is unknown. According to some versions, the buyer is the Netherlands. There is also information that the Belgian government bought the tanks. However, no theory has enough evidence to declare the identity of the philanthropist officially.
