The Ministry of economy of Ukraine and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development are working on reforming the plan to transition Ukraine's coal regions to use low-carbon products. As a result of the agreed measures, power generation facilities should be repurposed from using coal to electricity. To successfully implement the plan, the parties discussed the steps to reconstruct the energy generation system and made the necessary changes to the register.
Preparations for the new heating season will start in Ukraine in just a few weeks, and the restoration of generation facilities and the provision of electricity today is key in Ukraine's social and energy sector. The Ministry and the EBRD summed up the number of objects damaged by the Russian war, discussed steps to attract external financing for their speedy restoration.
As a result, dozens of TPPs and CHPs operating with the use of low-carbon energy resources should become operational in Ukraine.
