Ireland Announces New €36 Million Aid Package for Ukraine and Its Neighbors

Ireland has pledged a new aid package of €36 million to support Ukraine and its neighboring countries

This latest contribution brings Ireland's total aid to Ukraine, since February 2022, to over €380 million, encompassing humanitarian and military assistance.

The Irish government announced the package on September 4, emphasizing that the support will focus on humanitarian aid, rehabilitation, and potential reconstruction efforts. It also aims to help Ukraine achieve long-term goals such as peace, stability, and political aspirations.

Prime Minister Simon Harris highlighted a €2 million contribution specifically allocated to UNICEF to assist in the reintegration of Ukrainian children who were forcibly deported to Russia and have now returned.

Ireland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense, Michal Martin, reaffirmed Ireland's commitment to supporting Ukraine, stating, "Our support for Ukraine is unwavering. Ireland will continue to support the people of Ukraine as long as it is needed."
