The exhumation of bodies from mass graves was completed in Izium, Kharkiv region. Immediately it should be noted that in 2020 the city's population was almost 47.000 people. So Russians killed 1% of the population. There were 436 bodies recovered from the pits. The head of the Kharkiv regional administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reports that most of the dead have signs of violent death. Experts also found signs of torture on 30 bodies. Of those killed, only 22 were members of the military, and the rest were local.
"There are bodies with the rope around their necks, hands tied, limbs were broken, and gunshot wounds. Several men had their genitals amputated," said Syniehubov.
The government notes that at least 3 more such burials have been found in Izum. Experts are now demining the territories. Local authorities believe that more than 1.000 people could have died in the city. Mass graves were also discovered in liberated other towns of the Kharkiv region.
The head of the UN-appointed commission, Eric Mose, reported that they had discovered traces of war crimes. According to his data, there are cases of sexual or gender-based violence against victims aged between 4 and 82. Of the 451 bodies, 212 were reportedly owned by women and 7 by children.
