Josep Borrell Accused Russia of Provoking the Global Food Crisis

The head of European diplomacy stressed that Russia has destroyed one of the largest Ukrainian grain terminals, contributing to the global food crisis

On June 6, Jose Borel highlighted another deliberate crime in Russia on his Twitter account.

"Another Russian missile strike contributing to the global food crisis. Russian forces have destroyed the second largest grain terminal in Ukraine, in Mykolaiv. In light of such reports, the disinformation spread by Putin deflecting blame becomes ever more cynical," Josep Borrell.

What preceded these words. On June 5, Russia fired missiles against Mykolaiv. Civil infrastructure facilities and Ukraine's second-largest grain terminal was destroyed.

"According to the main directorate of the state emergency service of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv region, the fire broke out in an area of 10.000 m², 11 units of equipment and 50 firefighters were involved in its elimination. Additionally, fire brigades of local enterprises are working on the spot," Mykolayiv mayor Oleksandr Senkevych.

Josep Borrell claims that only Russia is responsible for the beginning and possible development of the global food crisis.

"Russia is directly responsible for any shortages in international trade in grains, and instead of ending its aggression, is actively seeking to transfer responsibility on international sanctions. This is disinformation," high representative of the EU for foreign affairs and security policy.
