Kharkiv Constructs Its First Underground School

Kharkiv has completed the construction of its pioneering underground school, set to open its doors to students by the end of the current school year

This initiative, as reported by the press service of the Kharkiv City Council, cites Mayor Igor Terekhov highlighting the facility's adherence to the highest safety standards.

Equipped with 20 classrooms, the school is built to serve 900 students across two shifts. With the student recruitment process for the next academic year nearly finalized, the school anticipates welcoming 600 children to its classrooms within this year.

Mayor Terekhov also shared plans for expanding this innovative approach to education across Kharkiv, aiming to construct similar underground schools in various districts. This development strategy aims to provide all children in Kharkiv with equal access to quality education in a safe environment, acknowledging the importance of safety in educational facilities amidst ongoing challenges.
