Kongsberg and DevDroid partner on robotic defense systems

The Norwegian and Ukrainian companies plan joint development and production of remotely operated combat technologies

Norway’s Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and Ukrainian defense technology company DevDroid signed a memorandum of understanding at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026. The agreement opens a path to long-term cooperation in the development and production of remotely operated robotic combat systems.

DevDroid says Ukraine is already shaping practical approaches to robotic warfare. Its systems are tested under real operational conditions and are designed to conduct reconnaissance, logistics, evacuation and other missions while reducing risks to personnel.

Combining field experience with industrial scale

The partnership is intended to combine DevDroid’s rapid development cycle and battlefield feedback with Kongsberg’s experience in advanced defense production. Kongsberg is one of Europe’s major defense suppliers and works in air defense, missile systems, space technology and unmanned platforms.

The companies plan to improve existing products and create new robotic solutions for the Ukrainian Defense Forces and international customers. This means cooperation may extend beyond individual machines to control systems, modular payloads, communications and coordinated remote operations.

The memorandum also reflects a broader shift in international defense cooperation. Ukrainian technology is increasingly entering global industrial partnerships not only as an urgent wartime solution, but as a source of tested engineering concepts for future security systems.
