Kyiv and Barcelona Became Sister Cities

2 capitals of different countries signed particular documents and assumed their responsibilities

Mayor of Kyiv Vitalii Klychko announced that the relevant document was signed. The Ukrainian side immediately assumed its responsibilities. In Barcelona, this weekend will be a city day, so the representatives of Kyiv became partners in the celebration. In turn, the mayor of Barcelona Ada Colou, said that in the streets of her city these days you can see Ukrainian culture, cuisine, and events with the participation of Kyiv artists.

Barcelona has already handed humanitarian aid to Ukraine fire trucks, providing temporary shelter to refugees. The mayor of Barcelona stressed that she will continue to help and support Kyiv and Ukraine. During the agreement signing, the parties discussed cooperation in the field of public transport, ecology, smart city, and culture.

"Today cooperation at the city level is essential because cities play a key role in the development of states and deepening cooperation between them," Klychko told about the importance of the signed memorandum.

Note that Barcelona is not the first city to be twinned with the capital of Ukraine. In June, the mayors of Kyiv and Madrid signed a treaty on twinning cities.
