Latvia donated hundreds of Stringer portable air defence systems to Ukraine. On April 21, on the Ukraine Defense Contact Group platform, defence minister Inara Murniece announced that Latvia had given Ukraine all the Stringer they had left.
"We will do our best to deliver them to Ukraine as quickly as possible," Inara Murniece.
In addition, military exercises of Ukrainian soldiers are taking place on the territory of Latvia together with the Armed Forces of Latvia. Murniece said that last year her department planned to double the number of Ukrainians who would be trained in Latvia. And the plan was realized.
"Now we see that we can train even more servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at different levels. I am sure that by the end of the year, Latvia will train almost 3.000 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine."
Latvia made a considerable contribution to the victory of Ukraine and continues to help us to the limit of its capabilities. The total assistance of this relatively small state is 1% of its GDP, which is more than €300 million in monetary terms.
