On October 22, at a meeting of the European Council, Lithuanian president Gitanas Nausėda expressed his opinion on the prospects of the EU neighboring countries.
“The EU's global role begins with our neighbors. We must strive for the widest possible involvement of the EU in the region at a strategic level. We must strive for the most ambitious results of the meeting,” said Nausėda about Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.
The Lithuanian president believes that the full integration of the Associated Trio into the EU market will become an “incentive” for these countries. At the same time, according to Nausėda, integration of a different nature may be offered to other countries, depending on their needs.
