On 24 August, Ukraine celebrates its 32nd Independence day. This holiday is celebrated not only in Ukraine but also in other countries of the world. After all, the Ukrainian diaspora is now in all corners of the world.
This year, Los Angeles held a race dedicated to independence and the day of the flag of Ukraine. Ukrainian diaspora and Americans who supported Ukraine during the Russian war met in California on the coast of Santa Monica. The first, Ukrainian athlete Andrii Khomytskyi held training for race participants. Then the runners ran along the Pacific ocean and unfolded the Ukrainian flag.
The project's organisers say that this event was not only about the day of Ukrainian independence but also about support. Ukrainian refugees mostly came to the US without relatives. Therefore, every such event allows them to feel warm at home, communicate in their native language and share plans to return to Ukraine.
