The Youth Capital of Europe — an annual competitive selection of the best cities that are suitable for the development of youth and the strengthening of European values. The European Youth Capital has been established in 2009. This year the title was held in the capital of Albania, so new winners were announced in Tirana.
November 23, it became known that the new owner of the title became Lviv. Last year, the city in the western part of Ukraine reached the competition's final. This year Lviv demonstrated his improvements: platforms for empowerment, projects of European identity, and improved spheres of cultural, social, political,l and economic life. This helped the town become the owner of a prestigious title. The Ukrainian city managed to beat in the competition Izmir (Turkey), Troms (Norway), and Fuenlabrada (Spain).
Such a victory proves once again that Ukrainians can develop and win even in war conditions.
"All Ukrainian cities won together with Lviv — from Lviv to Mariupol, from Kherson to Kyiv. This is a joint statement. Ukraine won," wrote on Facebook deputy mayor of Lviv Andrii Moskalenko.
