In the town of Lyman, Donetsk region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine surrounded about 5.000 Russian invaders

In 2014, when Russia attacked Ukraine and began to fortify its territory, Ukrainian soldiers in the town of Ilovaisk, Donetsk region, were surrounded by invaders. The Russians said they will release the Ukrainians, but on the condition that Ukrainian soldiers leave without weapons. On August 14, the Ukrainians agreed and laid down their arms. But when they left the encirclement, the Russians shot the unarmed column. 366 Ukrainians were killed, 429 were wounded, 128 were captured by the Russians, and 158 Ukrainian soldiers were missing. Everyone knows this tragedy and a monument to Russian cynicism under the name Ilovaiskyy cauldron.

On October 1, 2022, about 5.000 Russian soldiers in the town of Lyman, Donetsk region, are surrounded by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. All logistic routes for supplying ammunition or evacuating the occupation group from Lyman are cut off. Ukrainians call it the Lymanskyy cauldron.

"About Lyman. The occupiers asked their leadership for the opportunity to get out, to which they were refused. Now they have 3 options: either try to break through, or surrender, or die together. There are about 5.000 of them, there is no exact number yet," Serhii Gaidai, head of the Luhansk military administration.

Now the Ukrainian side is waiting for Russia to ask the military command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the safe exit of the surrounded Russian soldiers. Unless, of course, Russia cares about its soldiers.
