MAGURA enters the EU-Ukraine drone industrial track
Ukrainian maritime drone producer UFORCE, known for the MAGURA family of unmanned surface vessels, has been selected as one of the Ukrainian founding companies of the Drone Alliance EU-Ukraine. The alliance is meant to connect combat-tested Ukrainian innovation with European industrial capacity.
UFORCE chairman Oleksiy Honcharuk described the decision as a sign of growing recognition for Ukraine’s defense technology ecosystem and its role in Europe’s security architecture. Other Ukrainian companies named in the initiative include TAF Industries, SkyFall and Vyriy Industries.
From MAGURA V1 to V7
UFORCE develops a line of maritime drones from the first MAGURA V1 to the newer V7 generation. The platforms can be used for surveillance, reconnaissance, patrol, search and rescue, mine countermeasures, fleet protection and strike missions. The V7 generation has been associated with the downing of two Russian Su-30 fighters in May last year.
The company is also notable because Ukrainian maritime drones have already appeared in international training contexts. American special operations forces reportedly used Ukrainian Magura systems during exercises in the Philippines, where a drone struck and sank a target ship.
Why the alliance matters
The strategic point is scale. Ukraine has battlefield experience and rapid engineering cycles, while Europe has factories, certification pathways and procurement systems. If the alliance works, maritime and aerial drone production could move from isolated wartime innovation to a more integrated European defense-industrial chain.
