Martin Scorsese, like many other foreign influencers, has not passed by the tragedies that have taken their toll on Ukraine in recent days. The director expressed condolences to the families of all those who died in the plane crash in Brovary. Scorsese carried his words to Ukrainians with the help of the global initiative to support Ukraine United 24. He also noted the courage of the Ukrainians in facing grief and aggressor. As a true screenwriter, he came up with a beautiful metaphor that Ukrainians liked.
"He is right, Ukraine is a beacon of light, an inspiring nation during the war," wrote Scorses's fans in comments.
The appeal itself took 40 seconds. The video displays pictures of Ukrainian tragedies that became real only because of the war with Russia.
"We admire your courage, perseverance, steadfastness, and extraordinary, amazing determination in the face of this barbarism, this unspeakable barbarism. At this moment, your spirit, your spirit’s power light. It’s the light of the world. And I pray it’s bright enough to get you through this darkness," said the Oscar prize winner.
Ukrainians have been trying to keep the light inside for almost a year. But unfortunately, all the footage in the video appeal not to another film, but to the life of Ukrainians, which daily fades due to the aggression of Russia.
