Polish food group Maspex acquires majority stake in Ukrainian beverage producer

The investment gives Maspex control of Carpathian Mineral Waters and new production capacity in Lviv region

Polish food and beverage group Maspex has acquired an eighty percent stake in Carpathian Mineral Waters, one of Ukraine’s major producers of bottled water and soft drinks. The transaction gives the international group a direct manufacturing base in the Ukrainian market.

A new plant in Lviv region is expected to produce part of the Maspex portfolio, including juice products. Financial terms were not disclosed, although market estimates place the transaction in a range of thirty to fifty million dollars.

A long-term bet on consumer demand

Maspex describes Ukraine as a market with substantial growth potential. Local production can shorten supply chains, deepen distribution and adapt the product range to demand while reducing dependence on imported finished goods.

The Polish company sells products in eighty countries and holds strong positions in juices, pasta, sauces and other food categories across Central and Eastern Europe. The Ukrainian deal continues a regional expansion strategy that has included acquisitions in Romania and the Czech Republic.

The acquisition is significant beyond the beverage sector. It shows that a large foreign strategic investor is prepared to buy productive assets, launch manufacturing and build distribution capacity in Ukraine during the war.
