Medical and Social Adaptation of Ukrainians Who Lost Limbs in the War

The state is preparing a set of students for higher medical education in the field of prosthetics and social psychology

The issue of adaptation of Ukrainians, who lost their bodies parts due to the war, is incredibly acute. Ukraine lacks specialists in prosthetics and social workers who will help victims survive the physical and mental trauma they have received.

Therefore, the Lviv polytechnic institute and the Ministry of social policy of Ukraine are jointly launching several projects to train the necessary specialists:

  • Prosthetics training program for bachelors and masters;
  • Refresher courses for practising prosthetists;
  • Creation of decent working conditions for social workers.

Today there are 50 prosthetics centres in Ukraine. This is extremely small for the number of victims of the war. After the war, Ukraine has every chance of becoming one of the world's centres for providing medical services in the field of limb prosthetics.
