Memorandum of Cooperation in Space Research Between Ukraine and Japan

The State Space Agency of Ukraine signed a memorandum with the Japan Aerospace research agency

Ukraine is a world-famous space power country, one of the leading countries in the market of space services and technologies. The rocket and space industry of Ukraine includes about 40 large enterprises and a significant number of small and medium-sized enterprises-developers and independent research laboratories.

On October 17-23, 2021, as part of the thematic week Expo2020: Space Week, a weekly event UA Space Focus was held in the pavilion of Ukraine.

UA Space Focus is a platform for discussing important and topical issues of space exploration, as well as demonstrating promising joint projects in the space industry. It is planned to demonstrate the potential of the space industry of Ukraine and domestic state-owned enterprises.

There have been many thematic activities that have become significant for the development of the space industry in Ukraine, international relations in the space sector and the promotion of practical cooperation. The event was very fruitful and productive.

One of the key events is the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between representatives of the SSAU (State Space Agency of Ukraine) and the Japanese Agency for Aerospace Research.

The memorandum was signed on October 23, it’s a fundamental document aimed at regulating important aspects of Ukrainian-Japanese interaction in the field of space activities, in particular, the study of possible cooperation for joint activities of the parties in the areas of space research, space science, Earth observation and so on.

The SSAU is confident that the signing of the document will give a new impetus to the Ukrainian-Japanese relations in the field of space and will contribute to the start of practical cooperation.
