Modern Logistics Hub in Central Ukraine
The Container Terminal Fastiv has officially been launched, marking a significant step in Ukraine’s efforts to expand export and import logistics.
The terminal, located in Fastiv (Kyiv region), is designed to handle full-length trains and streamline cargo flows to Ukrainian Black Sea ports (particularly Odesa) and European ports such as Gdańsk, Hamburg, and Trieste.
At the first stage of implementation, two railway tracks and a container platform for loading and unloading have been equipped.
Strategic Role in Trade
According to Kyiv Customs head Serhiy Silyuk, the terminal will:
-
Diversify Ukraine’s logistics routes;
-
Create new export-import opportunities;
-
Enable the processing of significant annual cargo volumes;
-
Ensure fast customs clearance and documentation.
The launch comes as Ukraine seeks to strengthen its European transport integration and reduce dependence on vulnerable traditional routes.
Why It Matters
-
Export potential: Ukrainian businesses gain more reliable access to EU markets.
-
Import security: Supplies from Europe can move through more flexible corridors.
-
Resilience: The facility supports cargo redirection in case of disruptions at seaports.
With the combination of rail and maritime logistics, Fastiv is set to become a key intermodal hub, boosting Ukraine’s role in regional trade.
