New Entry Rules for Ukrainians from Hungary

From August 7, 2021, citizens of Ukraine can cross the Ukrainian-Hungarian border without restrictions, according to the Consular Service of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Ukraine. However, there are a few new rules

According to the Schengen Borders Code, biometric passports/visas, health insurance valid in Europe, and financial security are required for citizens to enter Hungary.

An important nuance for those arriving by plane is to make a PCR test or a Ukrainian or Hungarian vaccination certificate no later than 72 hours at the time of entry (together with citizens who have a certificate, children under 18 can also enter without restrictions).

Earlier, the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod began to issue certificates of vaccination against coronavirus to citizens of Ukraine. They can be obtained by people who have been vaccinated in Hungary. That is why, during the visit to the country, the representatives of the Hungarian border police may additionally require documents such as: residence permit, work visa, hotel reservation, virus test results, etc.

It will be recalled that international ties between Ukraine and Hungary are becoming stronger day by day. Earlier, Hungary opened vaccination points for foreigners living in the border area in neighboring countries. In particular, for Ukrainians living in Transcarpathia.
