New Export Duty on Scrap in Ukraine

State Concern of the Defense Industry of Ukraine has decided to raise the export duty on scrap metal from €58 to €180 per tonne

Ukrainian pipe producers have been waiting six months for measures to limit the export of strategic raw materials. By the end of spring, steel exports were out of control, and a shortage of raw materials led to the purchase of round billets for import.

The association of invest.com/investing-in-ukraine/starting-business-in-ukraine/build-an-enterprise/" rel="dofollow">enterprises emphasizes that it is important for Ukraine to make the necessary decisions at the beginning of the winter season when scrap metal, when the production of scrap metal is traditionally reduced, is the main raw material for the production of seamless pipes.

The new export duty will help stabilize scrap in the domestic market: the pipe industry enterprises will be provided with raw materials and people – with jobs and wages. After all, the export of high value-added products brings to the budget of Ukraine 4 times more taxes than the export of unprocessed raw materials abroad.
