On March 9, 2023, the newly elected pro-Ukrainian NATO general Petr Pavel will take over as president of the country

On January 28, in the second round of the presidential elections in the Czechia, general Petr Pavel won with more than 58% of the vote. Pavel — chairman of the NATO Military Committee, represents the communist party in the Czech Republic.

I sincerely congratulate Petr Pavel on his convincing victory in the elections of the president of the Czech Republic. I appreciate your support for Ukraine and our struggle against Russian aggression. I would be happy to have close personal cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of Ukraine and the Czech Republic and in the interests of a united Europe,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

On March 9, Petr Pavel will replace Milos Zeman. The new president is a longtime friend of Ukraine and a man who led the Czech army.
