In comparison with the sea ferry transportation, FCT is chosen for the speed of delivery and the absence of prepayment for the placement of cargo.
According to Irina Zaika, the freight forwarder of the CIS region, the main purpose of the development of the accelerated trains remains the reduction of the delivery time of goods from China to Ukraine.
"The delivery time from the departure station in China to the destination station in Ukraine is 18-23 days. The block train consists of 41-51 units of 40`HQ containers. The maximum weight of cargo in a container is 26 tons. As part of the FCT from China to Ukraine for the carriage of general, non-hazardous goods, as well as goods that do not require maintenance of temperature conditions. It is forbidden to carry goods containing liquids, oils, or batteries in any form. Overloading of containers from a narrow-gauge platform (1435 mm) to a broad gauge platform (1520 mm) takes place at the Erlian-Zamyn-Uude border crossing," continues Irina Zaika.
The transportations of FCT from China to Ukraine are developing within the framework of the international trade project One Belt, One Road. Since the launch of this service, trains from Yantai, Xi'an, Wuhan, Nanchang, Changsha, Qinhua and Zinan stations have arrived at Kyiv Liski station. By June 2021, direct container trains from China will also arrive at the terminal in Odessa. The new route will strengthen Ukraine's position on the logistics map of trade between Europe and Asia. Block trains to Kyiv go through the territory of China, Mongolia, Russia, Ukraine, the train to Odesa goes through the territory of China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine.
According to the Ukrzaliznytsia report, 425 thousand TEUs were transported through the territory of Ukraine in 2020. This is 10,7% more than in 2019. Of these, 230 thousand TEUs were delivered as part of accelerated container trains, which is 41% more than the previous year.

The availability of a logistics partner's own transit code reduces the time of transportation project preparation and eliminates the need for additional contact with the national rail carrier.
