This contribution is made through the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), which operates in cooperation with the UK, Lithuania, and the Netherlands.
Since 2022, Norway's total contribution to the IFU has exceeded $168 million. The latest tranche is aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s defenses against Russian attacks, focusing on the protection of civilians and critical infrastructure.
"Ukraine urgently needs more military equipment to protect itself from Russian aggression. Together with other countries, Norway will make its contribution," stated Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.
In 2024, Oslo has pledged at least $1.3 billion in military aid to Ukraine. Additionally, Norway has ramped up defense production to meet both its domestic requirements and to assist Ukraine. In May 2024, Norway announced a $190 million military aid package, further solidifying its support for Kyiv.
A bilateral security agreement signed between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre also ensures Norway's ongoing military aid to Ukraine throughout 2024.
