Norway Allocates $600 Million in Additional Aid to Ukraine

Norway has committed over $600 million to assist Ukraine, as announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi

"The allocation of most of these funds towards strengthening Ukraine's air defense is crucial, as it remains our top priority for protecting civilian lives," stated Zelenskyi. He expressed gratitude towards Norway for its continuous support and readiness to assist during critical times.

On Tuesday, April 30, all political parties in the Norwegian Parliament endorsed the government's proposal to augment support for Ukraine in 2024 by NOK 7 billion (more than $600 million). Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gar Støre highlighted that NOK 6 billion of this sum would primarily fund air defense equipment, with the remaining billion allocated to various forms of support.

"Enhancing aid is not only a matter of life and death for the Ukrainian people but also crucial for the security and stability of Europe, and thus for Norway," explained Støre following discussions with opposition leaders. With this increase, Norway's total aid to Ukraine in 2024 will sum up to 22 billion kroner.
