Norway to Conduct Training for AFU Military Staff

The first wave of courses for military doctors, officers and snipers will start in the spring of 2023

On January 26, Norwegian defence minister Bjorn Gram announced the expansion of the military-educational mission for Ukrainians. In the spring of this year, courses for medical specialists, junior officers and snipers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will begin on the territory of Norway. Currently, specialists from Norway participate in the British Interflex program, sponsor the EU training mission for Ukraine, and plan to join the Nordic initiative — the training of Ukrainian sappers.

Minister Gram said that Norway plans to increase the multiyear aid package for Ukraine, and this additional training program will strengthen Ukraine's position on the battlefield. Ukraine must not only have powerful weapons but also be able to use them.

"Work is ongoing to contribute more with donations and other initiatives, both directly from Norway and through collaboration with other countries. The government is planning a larger multiyear aid package for Ukraine," Bjorn Gram.

The minister emphasized that the support will last as long as it is needed, and Norway will cooperate in this way with other states.
