Nuclear Power Set to Reach Record Levels by 2025 Amid Global Shift to Low-Carbon Economy

The International Energy Agency (IEA) reports a growing global investment in nuclear power as countries hasten the transition to a low-carbon economy

The upcoming years will see new nuclear power plants commissioned in various countries, with Japan expected to resume nuclear electricity production and France projected to boost its output. The IEA anticipates renewable energy overtaking coal as a primary energy source by early next year. This shift is largely driven by the increasing global demand for electricity, especially in sectors transitioning to low-carbon technologies, such as electric vehicles, heat pumps, and various industrial processes that require electricity over oil and gas.

Further reinforcing this trend, Ukraine's Energy Minister, Herman Galushchenko, announced on the National "Yedini Novyni" telethon that following the construction of new units, Khmelnytsky Nuclear Power Plant is poised to become Europe's most powerful nuclear facility.
