Ukrzaliznytsia adds a modernized electric train between Odesa and Vinnytsia

The route creates a coordinated transfer option for travel between Odesa and Kyiv during peak demand

Ukrzaliznytsia has completed the modernization of another electric train and is launching it on the Odesa to Vinnytsia route. The train has been equipped with air conditioning and is designed to work as part of a coordinated transfer chain between Odesa, Vinnytsia and Kyiv.

The company says the combined journey can become a practical alternative to long-distance trains on the Kyiv to Odesa corridor. The key detail is the synchronized connection in Vinnytsia: if one of the trains is delayed, the connecting service is expected to wait for passengers.

A regional route with national value

Travel from Odesa to Kyiv through Vinnytsia became available from June 4. In the opposite direction, Kyiv to Odesa, the connection starts from June 5. Tickets are available through the Ukrzaliznytsia app by choosing a transfer route.

The railway operator presents the option as more affordable than bus transport and useful when direct rail tickets are scarce during seasonal peaks. For passengers, the upgrade matters not only because of the timetable, but also because air conditioning and coordinated transfers make regional rolling stock more competitive.

For Ukraine’s transport system, the project shows how modernization of existing trains can expand capacity without waiting for entirely new fleets. Better regional connections also support business mobility, tourism and access between major cities.
