The development of technology and digitalization could not ignore educational activities. The online education market in the world is overgrowing. According to research, by 2022, the global market for EdTech (educational business projects built using information technology) and online learning will grow by 5.08% per year, and the total cost will be $243 billion.
By type, the online education market can be divided into the following:
- Distance learning;
- Online courses;
- Programs and courses for self-study (books and manuals).
The online education market is overgrowing and is being driven by investment attraction. In 2019, the total investment in Edtech reached $18.66 billion, which is 14.2% more than in 2018, the largest share is in the United States (42.9%) and China (21.4%). Investors prefer to invest in learning tools based on AI — this category in the investment structure occupied 19.7%, while e-learning — 1.7%, and mobile learning — 15.9%.
In Ukraine, Edtech invests mainly in creating a startup and charity fundraising for it or attracting investments from international venture funds.
In general, Ukrainians are very fond of learning: on average, seven out of ten Ukrainians have received additional training over the past three years. And among young people, this figure is even higher, especially in the capital and the main industrial centers. In cities with a population of one million, young Ukrainians sometimes receive two or even three different education simultaneously. Naturally, counting not only courses but also traditional education systems.
