The team's first members will be Isabelle Khurshudyan, a former WP correspondent for Moscow and now head of the Ukrainian bureau, Max Bearak — a correspondent, and David Stern — a reporter. The team will be complemented by journalists, videos and photojournalists.

As the war enters a prolonged phase, this bureau will allow us to maintain our intensive on-the-ground reporting and ensure that we continue to deliver the distinctive and authoritative journalism that readers around the world count on us for," foreign editor Douglas Jehl.
Max Bearak has been working in Ukraine for 2 months now, and Isabelle will soon arrive in Kyiv to start working for the new office.
