Pentagon Highlights Ukraine’s Effective Use of Space Capabilities in Conflict

During the US Space Command changeover ceremony, US Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks commended Ukraine’s effective use of space potential in countering aggression in the ongoing conflict

Hicks highlighted how Ukraine's resilient and flexible space capabilities played a crucial role in thwarting a larger aggressor's objectives.

Hicks also noted the growing investment of the US Department of Defense in space, projecting an increasing advantage for the United States in this domain. She provided a comparative analysis of satellite launches, stating, "In 2023, the PRC launched 240 payloads into orbit, whereas the US launched more than ten times that amount — over 2,500 payloads."

Furthermore, she underscored the US's commitment to preventing conflict in space and other domains, focusing on deterrence as a key strategy. This emphasis on space capabilities reflects the evolving nature of modern warfare and the increasing importance of space technology in defense strategies.
