Pepco registers Ukrainian company ahead of store launch

The Polish discount chain is building a legal and management base for its planned entry into Ukraine

Polish discount retailer Pepco has taken a formal step toward entering Ukraine by registering a local legal entity. The move turns earlier market talk into a practical launch process, with a Ukrainian company, a Kyiv address and a management team already taking shape.

The company is expected to focus on the same discount format that made it visible across Central and Eastern Europe: everyday clothing, children’s goods, home items, textiles, decor and seasonal products. For Ukraine’s retail market, the arrival of another large value-oriented chain may sharpen competition in shopping centers and make affordable non-food retail more active.

From registration to store network

The new Ukrainian entity creates the administrative base for leases, hiring, logistics and supplier work. Market participants expect the first stores to appear in Kyiv and western Ukraine, where international retailers can rely on proven shopping center traffic and more predictable launch conditions.

The management line is also important. Pepco is forming a team with experience in retail operations, expansion and commercial real estate. That suggests the company is not testing the market with a symbolic presence, but preparing for several openings and a scalable network.

The wider context is favorable for Polish-linked business in Ukraine. Polish companies already have a strong presence in fashion and household retail, while Ukrainian consumers remain highly price-sensitive. If Pepco combines low prices with stable supply and suitable locations, its entry could become one of the more visible retail launches of the year.
