Phone Conversation Between Zelenskyy and Bush Jr

George Bush called the president of Ukraine "the Winston Churchill of our time"

On May 5, on the 71st day of the war between Russia against Ukraine, Zelenskyy thanked the people of America for their support of Ukraine and their unswerving commitment to the values of our state. The president of Ukraine stressed that Ukrainians see and feel the support of the people of the United States.

“I saw how people in the US treat us on social networks: they take to the streets, support Ukraine with flags. Americans are frank, open people, and I feel it. We have common values. I feel it comes from the heart,” Zelenskyy said.

In response, the former president noted that the Ukrainians inspire the people of America to support Ukraine.

"Your courage is essential for your continued success. If you continue to do what you are doing, you will always have our support if you continue to fight as you do now," George W. Bush.

Zelenskyy said that the conversation with Bush is significant since the former head of the United States is "an example of a strong leader."

On May 6, George W. Bush, on his Instagram account, briefly described his impression of the negotiations with Zelenskyy.

"I was honored to spend a few minutes talking with President Zelenskyy – the Winston Churchill of our time – this morning. I thanked the president for his leadership, his example, and his commitment to liberty, and I saluted the courage of the Ukrainian people. President Zelenskyy assured me that they will not waver in their fight against Putin’s barbarism and thuggery. Americans are inspired by their fortitude and resilience. We will continue to stand with Ukrainians as they stand up for their freedom."

Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent an open invitation to George Bush to visit Ukraine.
