Poland and the Czechia Call to Free Defenders of “Azovstal”

On 18 and 19 March, were held rallies in support of prisoned by Russians "Azov"

The Ukrainian initiative Hlas Ukrajiny Poland and Czechia gathered people to support the prisoners from Mariupol, Azovstal plant. The rally was attended by friends and relatives of prisoners and residents. The fighters Azov regiment are in Russian captivity for more than 300 days. Recall that the Ukrainian fighters left the fortress of the Azovstal plant and surrendered in the hope of international rights. However, the Kremlin is not ready to comply with the generally accepted norms.

In Prague, activists demonstrated at a symbolic place – the UN office. It should be noted that the organisation, following international conventions, guaranteed the safety of prisoners of war controlled with health, attitude towards them, and detention conditions. However, Russia has no restrictions on behaviour with prisoners of war from Ukraine and their inclusion in the exchange lists. For 300 days, Russia returned to Ukraine a minimal number of prisoners who served in the Azov regiment.

So the rally participants recalled the inaction of international organisations and the terrible consequences – the terrorist attack in Olenivka. On July 29, 2022, The Russian military massacred soldiers from Azovstal. However, international organisations still do not investigate the crime.
