Purchase of British Missiles for the Ukrainian Navy

Ukraine is negotiating with Great Britain on the purchase of surface-to-surface missiles for boats of the Ukrainian patrol and air-to-ground missiles for aircraft

“Under the plans, Britain would provide surface-to-surface missiles for Ukrainian patrol boats and missiles for aircraft as the nations increase co-operation after Brexit. The Ministry of Defense is discussing the sale of surface-to-surface maritime Brimstone missiles designed by MBDA UK that can hit “swarms” of targets simultaneously and would be deployed on vessels that the Ukrainian navy has in service," The Times journal.

Also, the Ukrainian side plans to purchase Brimstone air-to-ground missiles for its aircraft. The missiles are capable of hitting small and fast-moving targets and were previously used in British operations.

Previously, Britain did not negotiate the sale of lethal weapons. The situation changed due to the support of Ukraine and the integrity of its state borders by Great Britain.

We remind you that in 2020, both countries signed a memorandum on the re-equipment of the naval forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The UK also confirmed the transfer to Ukraine of two minesweepers, Ramsey and Blyth.

In June of this year, an agreement was signed on the joint construction of warships on the territory of both powers.
