Record Grain Harvest — Record Export

46 million tons of Ukrainian grain will bring the country $6 billion

According to the minister of agrarian policy Roman Leshchenko, in 2021 the country harvested 3 million tons of grain more than last year.

This harvest was a record one in the entire history of the country's independence. The total tonnage of early grains is 46 million tons, and of wheat — 33 million tons. This figure is 26% higher than the figure for the same period last year. “Now for distribution to domestic consumption and export. The math is simple: every year Ukrainians need 5 million tons of high-quality wheat, and we can export the other part. Of the total, this is 14.8 million. We also plan to send 9.6 million tons of fodder abroad. Consequently, the total amount of exports can reach 24.4 million tons of grain. In financial terms, this will bring the country $6 billion in revenue,” said Roman Leshchenko.

During the season, Ukraine has collected:

  • 19.8 million tons of food wheat (60%):
  • 13.2 million tonnes of forage (40%).

According to the minister of agrarian policy, the 60x40 distribution is standard for Ukraine.

The following areas brought the greatest harvest:

  • Khmelnytskyi;
  • Cherkasy;
  • Vinnytsia.

The following areas produced the largest amount of grinded grain:

  • Odesa;
  • Kharkiv.
